Gas district cooling visit

INTRODUCTION

Gas District Cooling (M) Sdn Bhd ("GDCM") is a member of KLCC Group of Companies which in turn is a member of PETRONAS Group of Companies. GDCM owns, manages and operates (directly or indirectly) 9 co-generation / district cooling plants within Klang Valley area serving high profile development area and national icons such as Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) as well as Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) including Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP).

GDCM is Malaysia’s largest district cooling provider serving Putrajaya, KLCC and KLIA precint. Their assets encompass of 8 co-generation / district cooling plants (excluding UTP) are capable of producing 59MW electric, 442ton/hr steam, 147,000 RT & 238,000 RTh chilled water.

As the industry is getting more challenging nowadays, companies are looking for well-rounded fresh graduates. This program is tailored to provide UTP students an opportunity to involve in the working environment in the industry and also giving the students a chance to develop themselves in terms of practical knowledge. Society of Petroleum Engineers Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS Student Chapter, SPE-UTP-SC is seeking to provide this platform to the students in order to assist UTP to fulfill the aspiration of producing well rounded graduates.

OBJECTIVE

  • To provide students an extra opportunity for their internship placement with Gas District Cooling.

  • To ensure that students can learn how the equipment works in the industry compared to what they have learn theoretically.

  • Let students have the chance to know how electricity in UTP is being generated and provided throughout the campus.

  • Students will get to train their professional communication skills where they are able to communicate with the site workers during this visit.

  • To make students understand the subjects they have learn in UTP to its’ core and its’ deeper practical experience in real field situation.
